Well it seems to me you got your mind made up so go and do it, go on and break my heart It seems to me so easy for you to be leaving and you show it, with your lips of red and other pretty parts Well I don't know much about lovin' but I see your color true as it is and they say my (with some) time its a comin' and I'll be back on my feet again But I don't know if the same applies to you id ask (if you're my vice) for your advice but it's true that its easier than hell to fall in love with someone like you so spare me darling please spare me Lilly May June Well there's a look in your eyes that tells me dear that its morning so come and break this spell because I know there's somebody else in your head and it's pleasing for you to wish me farewell Well I don't know much about lovin' but I see your color true as it is and they say my (with some) time its a comin' and I'll be back on my feet again But I don't know if the same applies to you id ask (if you're my vice) for your advice but it's true that its easier than hell to fall in love with someone like you so spare me darling please spare me Lilly May June Well I see you standing there on the platform of the station where you'll be leaving never to return The flower in your hair the coldness of your empty stare the dress you wore on breathless summer days But in that sunny haze where you stand alone and quite unafraid a question will come into your mind And as your train pulls in the whistle blows and sweats your skin for I am still in your spine But I don't know if the same applies to you id ask (if you're my vice) for your advice but it's true that its easier than hell to fall in love with someone like you so spare me darling please spare me Lilly May June

I see the angels coming over the hill and I see glory on high its a vast nation in the kingdom of God and we're all gonna go there when we die Sinners go to the river, heathens dry your eyes there a place waiting in the kingdom of heaven and we're all gonna go there when we die I hear the trumpets reigning over me I feel the warmth from their sound it's a vast nation over which those horns reside and were all gonna go there when we die Sinners go to the river, heathens dry your eyes there a place waiting in the kingdom of heaven and we're all gonna go there when we die and we're all gonna go there when we die

Eliza Blue 04:32
Well I remember, your eyes were blue as diamonds, the night that you were crying, the night I said goodbye and I recall, your hair was red it was on fire, as you set your heart to the pyre, its ashes scattered with the wind And I think about you now and then, when I'm in need, I need a friend, someone to help me understand someone who knew me when I was young Hey that's you, Eliza Blue, hey ay you, your eyes of diamond blue And now I know, you're probably better off without me, to think that you had found me, when I was down and out of luck but I recall, the nights we enjoyed our company, the freedom found in comforting the out of place and unbeloved And do you think about me now and then when you're in need and need a friend someone to help you understand someone who knew you when you were young Well I remember you, Eliza Blue, yeah ay you, your eyes of diamond blue And I think about those better days like shadows in the rain and I see another turn coming soon at every crossroads I feel you there the trace of you is shining there black highway, golden sun, blue moon Hey that's you, Eliza Blue, hey that's you, your eyes of diamond blue

about

This EP was a collaborative effort between myself, Katie and Ben Morey, and Joey Small. It is part one of a four-part release which will become a full-length album over the course of an undesignated period of time. This is not a conceptual work. Just a collective volume of music I'm making as time goes on. The songs on this EP were heavily influenced by Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and The Carter Family.

I have to give a very special thanks to Katie and Ben (and their cat Abe) for being such wonderful musicians and friends and really helping me tie this whole thing together. And of course another special thanks to Joey for recording drum tracks on the opposite side of the state. Not really sure how we live tracked you playing drums 200 miles away as I played in Ben and Katie's attic. Wormholes? Who knows.

Stick around for more to come.

released September 7, 2019

All songs were written and performed by Jackson Cavalier.

Katie Morey provided the beautiful harmonic arrangements on Kingdom of Heaven as well as piano and Organ on the other tracks.

Ben Morey lent me his voice and bass, his engineering and production experience, and friendly encouragement along the way.

Joey played snare and kit, and did heck of a job with - it.
